Homicide in Sawyer County

May 6, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The Sawyer County Sheriff's Department is investigating a homicide.

Police received a call Tuesday morning around 9 am from a health care worker, about a possibly deceased 93-year-old woman in her home. The victim lived alone in the town of Radisson.

The Sawyer County Ambulance and the Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the scene, where it was determined the death appeared to be suspicious in nature. Sawyer County Sheriff's Department investigators, the Wisconsin Crime Lab, and several other agencies were also sent out to investigate and process the scene.

The woman's body was transported to the Ramsey County medical examiner's office in Minnesota for a forensic autopsy. Results indicate the woman's death was a homicide, although officials are not commenting on how she died. The victim's name has not been released.
