The Milwaukee Brewers were hoping left hander Manny Parra would be able to work his problems out without a trip to the minors, but it just never happened.
Parra gave up 6 runs in 1 2/3 innings in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox. His record fell to 3-8 and his ERA balooned to 7.52. In Parra's last 5 starts, he went 0-4 with a robust ERA of 13.50.
Parra hasn't been able to get a good command of his fastball and has pitched from behind in the count consistently. The Brewers think a trip to the minors will be good for him.
The Brewers called up left-hander Chris Narveson from Nashville but he will pitch in the bullpen, not the rotation. The Brewers do have some time on their sides though. Because of off days, the Brewers won't need a fifth starter until the last week of the month.
