The DNR's go-to-guy for information on Lake Winnebago system sturgeon has been recognized for his efforts. The Wisconsin Conservation Congress has named Ron Bruch as their Fisheries Manger of the Year. Bruch is the DNR Fisheries Team Supervisor in Oshkosh.
The Department of Natural Resources' Tom Turner says Bruch was honored for his long standing efforts to preserve and protect the state's sturgeon population. Turner says Bruch developed great relationships with the state's sportsmen and women and as a result has their trust and respect.
Bruch, who has a PhD in Biological Sciences from UW Milwaukee, will add author to his resume this fall. He co-authored a book called "People of the Sturgeon." It will be released by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.
