Packers Open Mini-Camp

June 23, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The Packers hit the practice field for day two of their final three day mini-camp of the offseason.  Coach Mike McCarthy says that this final minicamp of the offseason is a way to wrap up everything they've learned during the offseason and a springboard to the start of Training Camp. The coach cancelled the Monday afternoon practice so the team could go bowling.

Cornerback Charles Woodson missed Monday's workout to attend a charity function, while fellow defensive back Will Blackmon was gone because he got married over the weekend.  The Packers have a workout this morning and another at 3pm this afternoon, before wrapping up the minicamp with a 10:15am workout on Wednesday morning.

Nick Collins also practiced on Monday.  Collins showed up to the mandatory mini-camp even though its thought he is unhappy with his current contact.  Collins didn't want to discuss his off the field issues with the media and said questions should be asked of his agent and Ted Thompson.  It's not known if Collins will show up to training camp in a little over a month if he doesn't have a new deal in place.

It looks like receiver Greg Jennings may be on the verge of a new contract. He's in the final year of his rookie, 3-year, $2.85 million dollar deal.
