Plane crash kills two

June 8, 2009 By WRN Contributor

A Sheboygan father and son are dead after a plane crashed in Jackson County Sunday evening.

A family spokesperson says Sheboygan chiropractor Dr. David Holtrop and his teenage son, Maxwell, were killed in the accident. The plane's wreckage and the victims were found in a wooded area near Black River Falls about 9 p.m. Sunday. The Federal Aviation Administration lists Dr. Holtrop as the owner of the single-engine Grumman built in 1978.

The crash happened south of Fairchild in the Town of Cleveland. At around 6 p.m., a 911 caller reported hearing a plane sputtering followed by an explosion. Responders used ATVs to search a remote wooded area for hours before finally finding the craft at around 9 p.m.
