Intense thunderstorms pounded southern Wisconsin overnight. Homes were evacuated in Grant County as flooding forced the Big Green River over its banks. County Emergency Government Director Steve Braun says a 911 call came in reporting residents in several houses in Werley were trapped in their homes. The Fennimore Fire Department was paged to help the locals. Braun says the situation resolved itself as the water went down relatively fast.
Both Grant and Dane Counties reported at least golf ball sized hail. The Milwaukee area had its share of severe activity with West Allis reporting 4.7 inches of rain. Racine County had 60-mile-an-hour winds and a funnel cloud near Union Grove.
Forecasters are also predicting possible severe storms in southern parts of the state Friday.
