Flash grenade startles neighborhood

July 30, 2009 By WRN Contributor

A couple loud bangs around 8:30 Wednesday night had residents of a Madison neighborhood believing they heard gun shots. Police were assisting FBI agents as they served a federal search warrant at a house on the city's southwest side. Sergeant Dave McClurg says the loud bangs were stun grenades used to gain entry to the residence.

McClurg says they wanted to let people know the bangs were not gun shots. One man was taken into custody on a probation hold. Madison police and the FBI aren't saying what the investigation is all about.
