Goins Leaves UW

July 21, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Badger coach Brett Bielema announced on Monday that cornerback Mario Goinees has been released from his scholarship and has left the program.  Goines started six games at cornerback for UW in 2008.  Goines was held out of Spring practice to concentrate on academics.   His departure leaves the Badgers with just four scholarship cornerbacks that saw game action last season.  Those players are sophomore Aaron Henry, who missed last season with a knee injury, junior Niles Brinkley, and sophomores Antonio Fenelus and Devin Smith.  Fenelus and Smith saw action on special teams in 2008.
