Baseball's all-time saves leader, Trevor Hoffman will be making his 7th all-star appearance afterall. The Brewers closer was named to the National League squad early today after Dodgers closer Jonathan Broxton had to back out because of an irritated nerve in his right toe.
Hoffman is tied for fourth in the NL with 20 saves to go along with his 2.05 ERA.
Hoffman becomes the 3rd Brewer scheduled to play for the National League in Tuesday night's all-star game in St. Louis. Ryan Braun will start in left field and Prince Fielder will play as a reserve. Fielder will also participate in Monday's home run derby.
