Man dies after tree falls on car

July 10, 2009 By WRN Contributor

A freak accident south of Madison this morning claimed one life.

Oregon Police Lt. Craig Sherven says a 46-year-old man was killed after a large oak tree collapsed and fell on his vehicle around eight this morning. The victim was driving down Main Street in Oregon when the tree fell. The man has not been identified.

Sherven says that, while there isn't a specific cause for why this happened, there were high winds at the time and the tree was older.

There was another vehicle in the area as well. The driver of that car wasn't hurt and damage was limited.
