Brewers club 5 home runs, salvage final game with Padres

August 14, 2009 By WRN Contributor

After losing the first two games of the series, the Milwaukee Brewers used the long ball to salvage the final game, 12-9 over the San Diego Padres.

Prince Fielder and reserve catcher Mike Rivera both clubbed a pair of home runs and Ryan Braun added the 5th.  The Brewers jumped out to a 9-0 lead and appeared to be on cruise control, but the pitching almost caved.

Manny Parra picked up the win, but allowed 6-runs in 5 2/3 innings and the Brewers needed Trevor Hoffman to come on and earn his 26th save.

Rivera's performance earned him another start tonight when the Brewers open a 3-game series against the Houston Astro's at Miller Park.
