Les Paul remembered in Milwaukee

August 14, 2009 By WRN Contributor

After news broke of Les Paul's death Thursday, music lovers flocked to a Milwaukee museum that features an exhibit dedicated to the guitar wizard from Waukesha. Discovery World spokesman Richard Cieslak estimates hundreds showed up. He spoke with attendees who were very well versed about the musician.

The " Les Paul House of Sound " was developed with input by Paul himself. The year old exhibit is scheduled to end in December but the museum wants to keep it permanent. Cieslak says officials need to sit down with Paul's family, however he doesn't want to speculate on how it will all transpire.

"Wisconsin lost a valued native son, the world of music lost a legend but most importantly we at Discovery World are saddened because we lost a dear friend."

Paul died at the age of 94 after complications from pneumonia.

Meanwhile, the Waukesha County Museum has been trying to build a permanent exhibit to honor Paul. But the fund-raising effort has gone slowly even after Paul came back home to play a benefit concert for the project last year.
