Mapping swine flu

August 19, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The Wausau area will host a statewide swine flu summit Wednesday to give state leaders a chance to map out what an outbreak of the H1N1 virus may look like this fall. The health department says the state has updated its plans even though swine flu may have fallen off many people’s radar screens.

“The old saying goes plan for the worst and hope for the best, we’ve been spending the last couple months been doing just that,” says agency spokesman Seth Boffeli.

State officials will also update local health officials, educators, residents and businesses about the latest vaccination schedules and school closing guidelines.

The event is being held at a hotel in Rothschild but will be Web cast live at pandemic.wisconsin.gov.
