Brewers in giving mood, fall to the Cubs

September 16, 2009 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Brewer pitchers showed off their generous side last night (Tuesday), walking 12 Chicago hitters in a 13-7 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field.  They also hit three batters, including two with the bases loaded.

The Brewers fell behind early, then scored 5-runs in the 5th inning to retake the lead before wildness set in.

Yovani Gallardo was saddled with the loss, working 5 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and five walks with five strikeouts.

After Gallardo left, the bullpen picked up where he left off.  In all, Brewers pitchers walked or hit 15 batters, 7 of which scored for the Cubs.

Geovany Soto homered and drove in three runs for the Cubs.  Corey Hart had a 2-run double and Mike Cameron a 2-run single to cap off a 5-run inning for the Brewers.  The Cubs have won the first two games in the four-game series.  Game three is tonight.
