Madison’s Stricker heads to final day with the lead at Deutsche Bank Championship

September 6, 2009 By Bill Scott

Madison’s Steve Stricker eagled the 18th hole and fired a 6-under par 65 to share the lead with Retief Goosen and Sean O’Hair after three rounds at the PGA’s Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton, Massachusetts.

Stricker’s approach shot from 230 yards away bounced off a bank in front of the green and rolled up to about 5-feet from the hole for his eagle putt.

There’s plenty of company on the leader board going into the final round on Labor Day (Monday).  Kevin Na, Padraig Harrington and Scott Verplank are all tied for fourth at -12.  Madison’s Jerry Kelly is just 2-shots back at -11 after his 4-under par round of 67 on Sunday.
