State Representative John Townsend (R-Fond du Lac) says 12 years in the state legislature is enough. The Republican lawmaker announced yesterday afternoon that when he completes his term next year he won’t seek another.
Business and his time in the Navy have kept him moving around most of his life. Despite being an “outsider,” Townsend says he found a home in Fond du Lac. He’s represented the 52nd State Assembly District since winning election to the seat in 1998. Between his time in the State Assembly, Fond du Lac City Council and US Navy; Townsend has 47 years in public service.
The lawmaker made his announcement at the City-County Government Center surrounded by friends and well wishers.
