People in Australia may never utter the phrase “throw another tongue on the barbie,” but that unlikely piece of Wisconsin cows is making it to the table in some parts of the world – and maybe closer to home than you might expect.
Following news of a recall in Wisconsin involving over 5500 pounds of cow tongue, we wondered: who eats this stuff? Casey Langan of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation says tongues are actually a good business overseas. And Langen says there’s a good chance many of us have eaten beef tongue without knowing: many times it’s made into sausage, along with all those other parts we don’t want to think about.
