Green Bay women upset DePaul

December 3, 2009 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay women’s basketball team (6-0) upset No. 21 DePaul (5-2)
79-68 to capture their record-breaking 24th consecutive regular season victory.  The streak began last season after DePaul beat Green Bay 76-68 in Chicago.

Julie Wojta scored 25 points and hit 8 of 10 free throws and Kayla Tetschlag added 16 for the Lady Phoenix.  Green Bay closed the first half on a 20-9 run to lead by 13 at halftime.  They built a 18-point advantage in the second half.

It’s the first win over a ranked opponent since the Lady Phoenix beat TCU on Dec. 3, 2002, a span of 216 games.  The Phoenix also has a win earlier over Wisconsin.
