NASCAR headed to Sheboygan County

December 22, 2009 By WRN Contributor

In a coup for an area already hosting a golf major in 2010, it was announced that NASCAR would race in Sheboygan County next year. Officials with Road America confirmed the rumors, announcing the Nationwide Road America 200 will take place Saturday, June 19th, 2010. The Elkhart Lake track was able to secure the date vacated by the loss of the Milwaukee Mile Nationwide race.

Road America President and General Manager George Bruggenthies said “great choice to keep the race in the state of Wisconsin,” due to NASCAR’s history here.

Bruggenthies is confident the 2010 race will not be a one and done event at the track. “Their wishes were not to move this race around, that’s why they tried in earnest really to keep this race at the (Milwaukee) Mile. But when it really became apparent there was not an available promoter they chose the Road America option.”

Tickets for the Nationwide Road America 200 go on sale February 1st.
