Scammers illegally use soldiers’ identities

December 20, 2009 By Jackie Johnson

Wisconsin National Guard officials are warning of a scam where someone posing as a deployed soldier places an ad for a car for sale. Lieutenant Colonel Jackie Guthrie says they found out about the issue from someone who responded to the ad.

Guthrie says this isn’t the first time that this scam has been reported, but it appears to be making the rounds again.

Guthrie says it’s too bad that some people feel the need to impersonate deployed soldiers to take advantage of others.
