Outfielder Jody Gerut became the first Milwaukee Brewers player eligible for arbitration, to sign a contract. He agreed to a 1-year, $2-million deal for 2010.
Gerut gets at $225,000 raise from 2009 and it leaves six players still in arbitration with the Brewers. Pitchers Dave Bush, Todd Coffey and Carlos Villanueva, outfielders Corey Hart and Carlos Gomez and second baseman Rickie Weeks are all still eligible for salary arbitration.
Gerut hit .230 with 9 homers and 35 rbi’s last season, but his average was at .283 with 5 homers and 19 rbi’s in his last 55 games.
