Hughes leads Badgers past Northwestern

Trevon HughesIn the first half, Trevon Hughes (pictured) couldn’t throw one in the ocean.  He made up for it in the second half, scoring 15 of his 16 points, including 4 three-pointers in the final 7 minutes, as the Wisconsin Badgers pulled away for a 60-50 win over the Northwestern Wildcats in Big Ten action in Evanston.

The Badgers outrebounded the Wildcats 38-29, including 15 offensive rebounds.

The Badgers shot just 28% from the field in the second half, but Northwestern wasn’t much better (33%).  The offensive rebounding gave Wisconsin extra chances and they converted.

Jason Bohannon led Wisconsin with 19 points as Wisconsin improved to
14-3 overall, 4-1 in the Big Ten.  The Wildcats fell to 12-4 overall and 1-3 in Big Ten play. 

The Badgers are in Columbus on Saturday night to face the Ohio State Buckeyes.
