A student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire faces charges of possession of child pornography, following a search of computers in his on-campus residence. Nicholas A. Grames was arrested after agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation and officers from UW-Eau Claire Police Department served a search warrant at the Towers Residence Hall-North on Sunday.
A search of computer hard drives and storage devices found sexually explicit images of children, and a laptop and external hard drive were seized as evidence. According to the complaint Grames admitted to a DCI agent that he was in possession of approximately 50 videos depicting underage girls involved in sex acts, and that he know that they were clearly under the age of 18.
Grames, who’s charged with 12 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography, lived in the dorm room alone, and was the only person to access his computer. He’s not currently enrolled as a student for the Winter session at UWEC.
