Warhawk baseball gets the gift of light

January 21, 2010 By Bill Scott

Eric BaldwinFormer UW-Whitewater Warhawk baseball player Eric Baldwin, is providing light to the University’s baseball field.

Baldwin, a 2006 Whitewater graduate, joined the professional poker circuit and is using his psychology degree to win millions.  Baldwin is donating a portion of his winnings to UW-Whitewater.  The gift will provide Prucha Field with new lights and the ability to host the 2010 Midwest Regional competition of the Division III baseball national championship tournament.

The Warhawks last hosted the Midwest baseball regional in 2005, the same year that the school won the Division III baseball national championship.

Baldwin, a Beaver Dam native, was a starting right fielder and team captain.  He relocated to Las Vegas in 2008.

In 2009, the 26-year old Baldwin won four major tournaments, earning $1.5-million.  He now has career earnings of nearly $3-million since going pro four years ago.
