Concerns over business losses

February 18, 2010 By WRN Contributor

We’re losing business in Wisconsin, and we’re not sure why.

A new report from the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance shows the number of businesses in the state decreased by 4.9-percent between 2006 and 2009. While at the same time, all of our neighboring states saw an increase in new businesses.

WISTAX researcher Dale Knapp calls it a disturbing new development, since Wisconsin had been outperforming other states. He says it’s unclear why the change is happening, but stresses the job creation should be a priority now to get the numbers back up for the state.
