Jimmy predicts early Spring

February 2, 2010 By WRN Contributor

Sick of Winter yet? Wisconsin’s rodent prognosticator says we’ll all be able to put away the snow shovels soon. Sun Prairie Jimmy failed to see his shadow this morning, not surprising on a cloudy day with snow falling across southern Wisconsin. Nevertheless, Sun Prairie Mayor Joe Chase interpreted that to mean an early Spring, according to an old German tradition.

Chase announced his ruling to a crowd of several hundred in downtown Sun Prairie, where the Groundhog Day tradition dates back to 1948. The current Jimmy is the tenth furry weather prognosticator to make the call.
