Marquette’s 5-game win streak is history

February 19, 2010 By Bill Scott

The Marquette Golden Eagles missed an opportunity to further convince the college basketball world that they are deserving of a spot in the NCAA Tournament field.  The Golden Eagles struggled through one of their poorest performances of the season and fell to 19th ranked Pittsburgh 58-51 at the Bradley Center.

The Golden Eagles (16-9, 7-6 Big East) saw their 5-game win streak come to an end and forward Lazar Hayward said they got away from a team approach and tried to work too much one on one.

Hayward moved into 5th place on the schools all-time scoring list, but was held to just 11 points on 4 of 17 shooting.

Coach Buzz Williams said Pittsburgh dominated the Golden Eagles inside.
