Rockets launch plenty of 3’s, beat Bucks

February 18, 2010 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Bucks were supposed to be well rested and ready to open the post all-star break portion of their schedule, but if you would have watched last night’s game against Houston, you would have never known.

The Rockets drilled 16 three-pointers and crushed the Bucks 127-99 at the Bradley Center.  Houston shot 69% from beyond the arc, but fell just one three-pointer short of tying the Rockets own team record for 3’s in a game.

On a day where many Bucks players were wondering if they would be headed for a different NBA location with the league’s trade deadline fast approaching (2pm Thursday).  Players tried to play through it, but that’s easier said than done.  In all, Bucks coach Scott Skiles said his team lacked energy.

The Bucks were close for awhile, trailing by 5-points at halftime.  But Houston jumped out and hit 8 of 11 three-pointers in the 3rd quarter and took a 100-66 lead to the fourth.  Bucks coach Scott Skiles said he’s hoping this game doesn’t carry over to Friday night when the Bucks travel to Detroit.

Trevor Ariza and Shane Battier each hit 6 of the Rockets 16 three-pointers.  Overall, the Rockets wound up shooting 58% from the field.

Richard Mbah a Moute had 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Bucks in defeat.
