Bo Ryan shoots for his 600th career head coaching victory when his 4th seeded Badgers face 13th seeded Wofford in the opening round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in Jacksonville, Florida this afternoon.
Wisconsin(23-6) and Wofford (26-8) are mirror images of each other, but the Badgers are big favorites against the Terriors, who are making their first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Badgers on the other hand, have never missed the NCAA Tournament in Bo Ryan’s first 8-seasons.
Wisconsin had to get through a stretch where their top big man, Jon Leuer was out with a broken wrist, and they did. The Badgers went 6-3 in the 9-games that Leuer missed with a broken wrist.
They also have a chance to take a final shot at the experts who gave the Badgers no chance for a finish in the upper half of the Big Ten. Some had the Badgers finishing as low as 9th. Instead, Wisconsin finished 4th, just a game out of first place in the Big Ten regular season.
There were a number of upsets on day 1. Is Bo Ryan concerned about Wofford? The Badger coach said he’s only concerned about one thing.
