Cornell Ends Wisconsin’s Season

March 22, 2010 By Bill Scott

Cinderella came to the dance with a buzz-saw Sunday as 12th seeded Cornell topped 4th seeded Wisconsin 87-69 in Jacksonville.  For the second straight year Wisconsin is ousted in the round of 32.

Cornell’s offense could not be stopped despite the Badgers best efforts.  The Big Red shot over 61% from the floor and 55% from downtown.  Badger Senior Guard Trevon Hughes on trying to stop Cornell:

Jason Bohannon added 18-points in his final game for Wisconsin despite a 2 for 10 stint from beyond the arc.  Trevon Hughes had 10-points but 6-turnovers in his Badger finale.  Coach Ryan still sees many positives from the season despite the loss:

Wisconsin’s season ends at 24-9.  Cornell advances as a 12-seed; the lowest seed left in the draw.  Cornell is one of three (#11 Washington & #10 St. Mary’s) double-digit seeds through to the sweet 16.  Cornell will face The East Region’s top seed Kentucky Thursday night.
