Diener signs with Portland

March 4, 2010 By Bill Scott

After being released by the Indiana Pacers on Monday, former Marquette point guard Travis Diener signed for the rest of the season with the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers.

The Blazers needed some backup help at point guard after trading veteran Steve Blake.

It’s a good move for Diener, who goes from a non-playoff team (Indiana) to a contender (Portland).

Diener only expects to finish the season in Portland.  He becomes a free agent at the end of the season.
