The second-seeded Wisconsin men’s hockey team (24-9-4) moves into the semifinals of the WCHAFrozen Five and will face 3rd-seeded St. Cloud State (22-12-5) on Friday at 2pm at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The Badgers were the first team to advance to the Final Five, posting 4-1 and 7-2 victories over Alaska Anchorage last Friday and Saturday at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers split with the Huskies during the regular season. In St. Cloud, the Badgers fell 4-1 and won 4-1 in November. In February at the Kohl Center, the Badgers fell 5-1 and won 7-4.
It was another good weekend for goaltender Scott Gudmandson against Anchorage and Mike Eaves said he’ll give Gudmandson another start against St. Cloud State on Friday.
The entire WCHA Final Five is scheduled to air on Fox Sports North (FSN).
Following the weekend, the 16-team field for the 2010 NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament will be announced Sunday, March 21 at 10:30am.
