Marquette and Louisville battle for fourth place in Big East tonight

March 2, 2010 By Bill Scott

This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Marquette Golden Eagles.  Conference coaches picked them to finish 12th in the Big East Conference at the start of the season.

Now, they’ve won 10-Big East games (10-6) and could equal last years conference win total of 12 games by winning their final two.

The Golden Eagles host Louisville tonight at the Bradley Center with sole possession of fourth place in the conference to the winner.  Louisville comes in having won their last three road games, including a win at U-Conn on Sunday.  Marquette has won their last three as well, all coming in overtime.

The Golden Eagles started 2-5 in Big East play.  They’ve gone 8-1 in league play since then (19-9, 10-6).

Following tonight’s game, Marquette closes out at home against Notre Dame.
