UW Green Bay falls in Round of 32

March 24, 2010 By Bill Scott

The UW Green Bay Women’s Basketball Team fell to 4th seeded Iowa State Tuesday night in the second round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament 60-56. The 12th seeded Phoenix were looking for the schools first ever trip to the Sweet 16.

Kayla Tetschlag was the games top scorer with a career best 29-point performance. That total also tied the UW Green Bay tournament mark for most points in a game. Tetschlag was also given the distinction of the “player of the game” on the ESPN2 telecast.

Green Bay had the ball with 8 seconds left trailing 57-56 but turned it over. After a pair of Iowa State free throws made it 59-56, Green Bay’s inbound pass was picked off at half-court sealing the win for the Cyclones.

The Phoenix end the season with a 28-5 record. Iowa State moves on to play top seeded Connecticut.
