Your wallet might be feeling a little lighter these days, as gasoline prices inch their way toward $3.00 a gallon.
“Gas prices across Wisconsin right now are averaging $2.90 today. We don’t see that number as coming down any time soon. Though we think that the trend is that the prices are going to rise as we head into the spring and head into the summer.”
Beth Mosher with AAA notes that we always switch to a summer blend of gas in the late spring, which is more expensive. Also she says the spikes in gas correspond with the demand for the fuel in the popular summer driving season. Even so, Mosher says prices are much higher than they were last year at this time.
“This time last year we were just over the $2.00 mark. So we’re about 85 cents higher than we were a here ago.”
The cost of oil is a big factor, too, coming in at about 85 bucks a barrel.
