After a slow start by the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff, right hander Dave Bush tossed 7-shutout innings and led the Brewers to an easy 8-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. It allowed the Brewers to capture their first series opener in 5 tries.
Bush allowed just 3-hits and 4 walks in picking up his first win of the season. He lowered his ERA to 2.41 on the season. Catcher Greg Zaunn said Bush was outstanding.
Corey Hart homered for the Brewers and Ryan Braun and Casey McGehee each drove in a pair of runs.
Game 2 of the series is tonight.
