Kyles to miss time with prostate cancer

April 20, 2010 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers say bullpen coach Stan Kyles has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will leave the team to have surgery.  Kyles is expected to miss between 4 and 6 weeks.

Kyles will be replaced on an interim basis by Fred Dabney, who is the pitching coach of the Brewers Class A affiliate Brevard County.

Kyles was diagnosed during the team’s mandatory physical examinations at the start of spring training.

Kyles is in his second season as the Brewers bullpen coach.

vs Pirates

The Brewers open a 3-game series in Pittsburgh against the Pirates tonight.  Dave Bush pitches for the Brewers.  The Pirates have played well early and find themselves with a 7-5 record, 1-game behind the front running St. Louis Cardinals.
