Maintaining the status quo at the DNR

Seventeen state lawmakers who had supported legislation to remove the Governor’s control over the DNR “flipped” on the issue earlier this year, according to a report from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign.

WDC Executive Director Mike McCabe says they voted to sustain Governor Doyle’s veto of the measure, after receiving more than $700,000 in contributions.

Most of those came from groups opposed to the change in how the leadership of the agency is selected, such as
