Packers select Purdue DT Mike Neal

April 23, 2010 By Bill Scott

With the second round pick, the Green Bay Packers select DT Mike Neal from Purdue.

Neal moved into Purdue’s starting lineup two years ago.  Since taking over at LDT, Neal registered 11 of his 13 career QB sacks and 21.5 of the 26 tackles behind the line of scrimmage that he recorded during his Boilermaker playing days.

Neal was by far the Boilermakers strongest player, boasting a 510-pound bench press and a 615-pound squat.

Neal started 23 of his final 24 games at Purdue and played in a total of 46 games during his career.

Last season, Neal received the team’s Hammer Award (outstanding hitter) and served as squad co-captain.

Neal was a Health and Fitness major.  His father, Michael, played football at Weber State.  His best 40-yard dash time is 4.89 seconds.
