Teacher faces heroin charges

April 20, 2010 By WRN Contributor

A shake up for a small Rock County school. Katherine Mielke, a Spanish teacher at Brodhead Middle School for over five years, was arrested Monday. According to a deputy’s report, Mielke was in possession of drugs, including heroin.

The 31 year-old Mielke is on suspension from her job, pending an investigation. She had been under investigation for the past several weeks by Rock County’s Special Investigation Unit.

Just after 4:30 PM Monday, Mielke was pulled over on Highway 11. Police searched the car and found a half dozen “gel” packs of heroin, drug paraphernalia, plus oxycodone and hydrocodone pills.

Brodhead is just east of Monroe. It’s split between Green and Rock Counties and has just over 3,000 people.
