Brewer bats remain silent

May 3, 2010 By Bill Scott

For the third time in the last four games, the San Diego Padres pitching staff blanked the Milwaukee Brewers, pulling out a 8-0 win in San Diego on Sunday.  Jon Garland and two Padre relievers combined on a 3-hitter.

It was the first time the Padres had three shutouts in a series of any length in their 42-year history.

Scott Hairston and Kyle Blanks hit back to back homers in the fifth inning for the Padres, who continue to lead the NL West.  The Padres out-scored the Brewers 21-2 in the series.

Randy Wolf took the loss for the Brewers.  He worked 5 innings, allowed 4-runs on 6-hits with 6 walks and 5 strikeouts.

The Brewers are off today.  They’ll open a series tomorrow night (Tuesday) against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
