A Wisconsin dairy farmer could face charges for illegally selling raw milk.
On Wednesday, Vernon Hershberger of Grazen Farms near Loganville was issued a warrant by Sauk County Police. His property was searched, and dairy products were taken by authorities.
Officials want to know if he’s operating with a license and selling raw milk.
Hershberger says he did have license that expired in February, but he doesn’t need a retail license because he’s only open to members and not the public.
In Wisconsin, it is illegal to sell raw milk. The Legislature voted to legalize it, but the Governor vetoed that bill two weeks ago.
It will now be up to the Sauk County District Attorney whether charges should be filed against the father of nine.
