Cat house of horrors

June 18, 2010 By WRN Contributor

Jackson County Public Health Officials along with the Sheriff’s Department removed 17 sick and neglected cats from a Town of Northfield home. According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the home was declared unlivable after inspections revealed a filthy house of animal feces. Chief Deputy Mark Moen says a search warrant turned up much more. “Through their search, they actually located…in the garage…a freezer that was not working at the time. When they looked into the freezer they found several dead cat carcasses. We secured them as evidence. And after counting them, there was over a 100 cat carcasses.” Gabriella Bernabei and Robert Grassi were referred to the District Attorney’s Office for mistreating animals and not meeting the cat’s sanitation standards.
