The Milwaukee Brewers used the 14th pick in the first round of Major League Baseball’s June draft on California high school right hander Dylan Covey.
Covey said he hadn’t had a lot of contact with the Brewers and therefore was surprised to get selected 14th overall by the team.
The Pasadena, California pitcher admitted to not knowing much about Milwaukee.
Covey said in a conference call on Monday night that there was quite an uproar at his house when his name was announced.
Covey has a scholarship offer to the University of San Diego, but he made it perfectly clear that he wants to turn pro right away if he can.
