More charges for bus driver accused of assault

June 22, 2010 By WRN Contributor

Additional sexual assault charges have been filed in Waupaca County Court today Tuesday against a former New London school bus driver.

71-year-old Delton Gorges now faces five counts: Sexual assault of a child under the age of 15, repeated sexual assault of a child, attempted sexual assault of a student by school staff, and two counts of fourth degree sexual assault.

Gorges, a former part-time New London school bus driver, is accused of assaulting various juveniles in the area over the past two years. In court this morning, a special prosecutor said there may be as many as nine victims, dating back to the mid-1970s.

Because of the additional charges and the lengthy time frame covering the allegations, the judge imposed a $5,000 cash bond in place of a signature bond. The bond amount was immediately posted by family members.

Gorges faces over 80 years in prison if convicted. He’s due back in court July 6th.
