Soccer comes and goes, again

June 29, 2010 By Bill Scott

While soccer’s World Cup continues, for many Americans, it ended when the United States lost to Ghana.

The World Cup is much like the Olympics for the American Sports fan.  We rally around the sport because just like the Olympics, it’s a worldwide event.  But now that the Americans are out of the World Cup, soccer will be put on the back burner and we’ll forget about it until the next time the World Cup rolls around.

Soccer will go on trying to prepare itself for the next Word Cup in four years and doing what it takes to try to move beyond where the Americans exited this year.

What else will change?  Nothing!  You and I for the most part will rally around our country when it’s time to play again in four years.  The soccer world will continue to develop it’s young talent and we’ll focus our attention elsewhere.
