Brewers fall short in Pittsburgh

July 21, 2010 By Bill Scott

The Brewers surrendered a franchise record nine first inning runs Tuesday night as Milwaukee fell in Pittsburgh 11-9.  Dave Bush was tagged for the 9-runs, though only 4 were earned due to 3 errors.

Bush ended up lasting 4-innings giving up a total of 10-runs, 5-earned, on 9-hits.  Bush talks about his first inning struggles:

Pedro Alverez had the big blast in 1st for Pittsburgh with a Grand Slam.  He also added a solo-shot in the 2nd.  Alverz had just 3-homers on the year before hitting 2 last night.  Neil Walker added a 5 for 5 night for the Pirates.

The Brewers never gave up after the big deficit.  Jim Edmonds had 4-hits including hits 5th home run of the season.  Ryan Braun added a 2-run blast in the 6th which pulled the Crew with in 1-run…but the comeback fell short:

It’s game 3 of the 4 game series tonight.  A pair of lefties will toe the rubber; Randy Wolf for the Brewers and Zach Duke or the Pirates.  6:05 is the first pitch from PNC Park.
