Crew Takes Game 1 in St. Louis

July 2, 2010 By Bill Scott

Casey McGehee, George Kottaras and Prince Fielder each homered as the Brewers stopped the Cardinals 4-1 in their series opener in St. Louis on Thursday night.

McGehee hit a solo shot in the 2nd to get the Brewers on the board and then Kottaras added a two run blast in the 5th inning.  Fielder added his 18th round tripper of the season with a solo job in the 8th.

Randy Wolf pitched 6 and a third innings, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits to notch the win.  Cameron Lowe pitched out of an 8th inning jam with two out and two on, retiring Albert Pujols to preserve the league.  John Axford pitched the 9th for his 9th save of the season.

The Brewers and Cardinals continue their series tonight as Chris Narveson takes on Jaime Garcia.  They will throw the first pitch at 7:15pm tonight at Busch Stadium.
