Franklin captures WIAA State Summer baseball title

July 30, 2010 By Bill Scott

Franklin high school captured the WIAA State Summer Boys Baseball Championship.  The Sabres knocked off West Bend West 11-4.

Franklin coach Jim Hughes extended Wisconsin’s all-time wins record with the victory.  Hughes has 748 wins now in 38 seasons.

The Sabres finished the season 30-14 after finishing just 5th in the Greater Metro conference.  It was the 8th trip to the State Tournament and the first State Title at Franklin.

West Bend West fell short of a 4th summer championship and finished 35-3 on the season.
