Gallardo Out of All-Star Game (AUDIO)

July 6, 2010 By Bill Scott

Brewers team doctors confirmed on Monday that starter Yovani Gallardo has a strained left oblique muscle.  Gallardo was hurt in the 3rd inning of Sunday’s loss to St. Louis.

The Brewers ace won’t go on the disabled list but manager Ken Macha says he won’t be pitching in the All-Star Game.  Gallardo was named to his first National League All-Star team on Sunday before he took the mound in St. Louis.  Ironically he should have been out of the inning before he was injured as shortstop Alcides Escobar committed two errors that would have ended the inning.

Gallardo is 8-4 with a 2.58 ERA this season.  The team officially says Gallardo is day-to-day.

Audio: Gallardo says he’ll still go to Anaheim. :13
